Bowling
2/4/2007 |
After a rather exotic activity in
the form of a paintballing in early March, WYPSA UK had
organised a bowling event as an informal Wahyanite gathering on
Monday, 2nd April. As in last year, the event was held in the
form of a competition, except that it was held in Bayswater this
year, instead of the busier Trocadero. Despite the higher cost,
every participant seemed to have enjoyed the evening. All the 7
Wahyanites joining the event had tried their best to obtain the
highest score possible. Some of them even managed to score over
120 in a single game. In the end, the championship went to Tim
Chu (WYCHK 04') with the highest score of 141. Congratulations
to him!

Paintballing
3/3/2007 |
On Saturday, 3rd March, 5
Wahyanites gathered at the Liverpool Street train station,
equipped with enthusiasm for a special event of the day:
Paintballing. Together with a friend of Matthew, we arrived at
the arena at about 1:30pm and ready for a cruel battle! We
joined another 11 Iraqi people, making up a group of 17. The
game involved 5 rounds of mini-battles against another team. In
each round, we not only aimed at “eliminating” all rivals, but
also we had to accomplish tasks like capturing the flag, which
made the game even more challenging but entertaining. It was
great fun playing this game. We did feel pain and even got hurt
while the paintballs splashed onto our skin with its sharp
fragments. Although we felt exhausted after the event, we
enjoyed the day very much. Some of the members even had the mood
to play a Wii game at Matthew’s place afterwards…

Chinese New Year Gathering
23/2/2007 |
A Wahyanite gathering in
celebration for the Chinese New Year was successfully held on
Friday, 23rd February, in the Chinatown in London. 26 Wahyanites
from 5 different year groups participated in this gathering.
This participation rate, and the fact that some of them even
travelled all the way from Cambridge as far as Manchester,
strongly indicate the sentiment of Wahyanites to the mother
school. This gathering was indeed an unbeatable opportunity for
fellow Wahyanites to get together in a relaxing environment.

2006-2007
First Gathering
1/12/2006 |
The features of unity and togetherness of Wahyanites within the Wah Yan
community are evident, and the Wahyanite gathering held on the night of
1st December, 2006 had shown that these features had taken on a particularly
large significance. 27 Wahyanites from 5 different year groups had joined the
dinner gathering held in Chinatown in London. All of them had made an effort to
turn up, despite the fact that the gathering was held during the busy time
towards the end of term. The number of 2004 graduates joining this event was
spectacularly large (more than 10), probably owing to the coincidence that this
gathering was held on the same day as their own gathering (within their year
group). Photos are uploaded to our album.

Reunion Dinner
19/5/2006 |
After a couple of
interesting activities such as karaoke and bowling held in March
and April respectively, the WYPSA UK decided to organise a final reunion for
this academic year, in the form of a casual dinner. It took
place at Imperial China in Chinatown. This had attracted 21
Wahyanites from 4 year groups to join. As usual, Wahyanites from
different year groups mixed well together, and the jokes shared
between us had contributed to the attractiveness of this event.
A speech from the Chairman, Ng Kei Bok, concluded this
gathering, with the announcement that Matthew Fong will succeed
Ng Kei Bok next year as the Chairman of the WYPSA UK Chapter.

Bowling
18/4/2006 |
On 17th April the UK
Chapter organised a bowling event for the alumni. It was held in
Trocadero (A shopping mall in Piccadilly Circus, London) and 8
people joined this relaxing event at night after having a busy
day. To add some gimmick and make it more interesting, the game
was organised in a form of a competition and the participant
scoring the highest in a single game would receive a special
prize. It turned out to be an exciting game and a number of
participants scored very closely. The winner was unknown until
we have competed to the final round, and finally the championship
went to Andrew Wong Chi Hin (WYHK, 2003). A big applause and
congratulations to him!

Karaoke Night
14/3/2006 |

Alumni gatherings are
not just reunion dinners one after another but can be something more
interesting! On 14th March WYPSA UK held a karaoke night at Royal
Dragon, London Chinatown and attracted some 10 singing-lovers to
join. The event started at 7pm and lasted for 4 hours during which
we sang, ate and played joyfully. In the second half, one of the old
boys even brought to us an unexpected incident that much added to
our entertainment! The karaoke night is for sure an unforgettable
experience!

Committee meeting
23/02/2006 |

With the invitation of
the President of the Wah Yan Past Student Association, the Committee
members of the alumni had a meeting in a form of a casual dinner on
23rd February. The main purpose was to discuss the possibilities of
the organisation of any future events for the Wahyanites in London
to enjoy. After some discussion, the Committee had decided to
organise a karaoke night in mid-March. The venue and the time of the
event would be announced in this website and by email.

Chinese New Year: The Wah Yan Family
03/02/2006
|

The
desire for unity between Wahyanites is evident within the Wah Yan
Community, and the same applies to the overseas Wah Yan Alumni. On
Friday, 3rd February, some 27 Wahyanites from various year groups
gathered together for a Chinese New Year celebration dinner in
London. All of them had made an effort to turn up and enjoy what
this function had to offer, despite having lots of work to do. Some
of them even travelled all the way to London from as far as Bristol
and Manchester. The above picture shows all the Wahyanites who
participitated in the gathering, including a fellow Wahyanite whose
apparent sentiment to Wah Yan was marked by his decision to wear the
school tie to this gathering.

Chinese New Eve: 'Kung Hei Fat Choi'
29/01/2006
|

A group of Wahyanites
from the 2000 graduates spent a nice Chinese New Year’s Eve in one
of our member's home, as an inaugural gathering in this joyful
season. A wide selection of activities was done, including
playstation games, cards, not to mention monopoly. One of the
members of the party, Tony Hung, even came wearing the clothing of
the season. A dim sum meal on Chinese New Year Day concluded this
memorable gathering.
